About this Circuit
The Arupadaiveedu are the six principal battle grounds and abodes of Lord Murugan (Subramanya/Karthikeya), the son of Shiva. All six are in Tamil Nadu and form the most important Murugan pilgrimage circuit in South India. Each shrine commemorates a specific episode from Lord Murugan's life — from his birth and receiving the Vel to his marriage to Valli and his reign over the celestial armies. Together they are considered the six faces of the deity.
Pilgrim Tip
The six shrines can be covered comfortably in 5–7 days. Palani and Thiruchendur are the most visited; Pazhamudircholai near Madurai is the only hill-forest shrine among the six.
