Significance

One of the five Pancharama Kshetras, where the Shiva lingam is said to have emerged from a pot of milk (ksheera) during the splitting of a cosmic lingam by Vishnu's discus. Set amid the Godavari delta's paddy fields, it also enshrines the goddess Parvati as Ksheera Rameswari.
