History & Significance
History
The Tali temple was built by Zamorin king Swami Thirumulpad in the 14th century CE. The Zamorins of Calicut were the most powerful rulers of medieval Kerala and great patrons of this temple. Vasco da Gama landed near Calicut in 1498 — this temple was already centuries old when Europeans first arrived in Kerala.
